Two (More) Bodies Found

Police said they launched an intense investigation on Monday after the bodies of two black men were found not far from the police station in the Kemp’s Bay area of South Andros.

“From all indications, I think we can say from what weメre able to see that some foul play is suspected,” Chief Superintendent of Police Marvin Dames said.

“It is believed that these bodies may have been there for some days.”

He said a team of police investigators was in South Andros conducting investigations, but could not say whether there were any gunshot or stab wounds, or any other signs of injury to the bodies.

Police press liaison officer Walter Evans said the badly decomposed bodies were found approximately 150 feet off the main road, about two miles south of the police station.

He said a team of police officers headed by Inspector Sidney Rolle made the discovery.

Police did not release the menメs identities, although South Andros residents told The Bahama Journal they were residents of that area.

Mr. Evans said police had received at least one missing personメs report on Sunday, although one resident claiming to know the men said they had been missing for at least 10 days.

Police said autopsies would have to be performed to discover the exact cause of death.

The quiet South Andros community does not normally make it to the daily crime report, but several weeks ago four men whom police believe were responsible for $1.4 million worth of marijuana seized from caves in South Andros were charged in court.

Police had called it their largest drug bust for the year. DEU officers reportedly discovered the marijuana in two caves in South Andros in 34 crocus sacks. The illegal drugs weighed some 14,000 pounds.

Police on Monday assured that they were working quickly to gather evidence in the latest crime matter on South Andros, but were careful about revealing too many details in the case.
