Bahamas Business Veterans To Receive Visionary Awards

Veteran business leaders Mrs. Joan Albury, President of The Counsellors Ltd, the country’s largest full-service marketing agency in The Bahamas along with Pastor Silbert Mills, C.E.O. and Owner of The Bahamas Christian Network heads the list of Visionary Award honourees who will be recognized at the upcoming 2010 Visionary Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs Awards Conference on Monday, October 18 at the British Colonial Hilton. In addition Bahamas Ferries will also be presented with a Visionary Award for its role in community development.

Both Mrs. Albury, and Pastor Mills have played a significant role in helping to shape our country through their work which have positively impacted our nation for the better,” commented Anastasia Stubbs, Founder of Visionaire Marketing, organizer of the 2010 Visionary Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs Awards Conference.

During her 22 years as President of The Counsellors Ltd., Mrs. Albury has played a vital role in contributing to the positive development of the local economy as well as positively impacting the business communities in Nassau, Grand Bahama, Abaco, Exuma and Andros via the Annual Bahamas Business Outlook seminar which provides an economic outlook for The Bahamas and is held annually in each of those respective islands. Her marketing agency is also the official producer of special programs namely You & Your Money, a weekly financial talk show which informs the public on a broad range of economic issues; and Bahamas @ Sunrise, the only live morning TV show in The Bahamas. In addition to the Financial Voice a live forum that brings together valuable perspectives on national issues.

Joan has expanded The Counsellors service catalogue from public relations to include market research, advertising, graphic design and video production. The company has an extensive client list including the Government and the Private Sector.

Mrs. Albury successfully achieved a Master in Business Administration from the University of Miami in 1982. She successfully completed a Tourism Planning Course from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom. Received an Honors Degree in Sociology from the University of Toronto. She is a member of the Zonta Club of Nassau and worships at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity where she is a Vestry member and Sunday School Teacher. She is happily married to Frederick Albury. The couple has two children Khari Albury and Dr Justin Albury.

Born in Dundas Town, Abaco to the late Bertram and Viola Mills, Pastor Silbert Mills received his early Christian education at Friendship Tabernacle Church, attending Sunday school and youth meetings. Pastor Mills accepted the Lord at a tender age of sixteen. He continued as a Sunday School Superintendent and youth leader while also serving as the church’s musician in training for most of his teen years.

In 1995 he assumed the position of Praise and Worship Leader. From that period on, his work in ministry blossomed. He was appointed to the Leadership Council of Friendship Tabernacle in March 2004. On September 1st, 2004, he was appointed Interim Pastor. Three months later, the church membership approved their support of his leadership style when they elected him Pastor of Friendship Tabernacle Church. He was honored with a Doctorate of Divinity Degree in December 2009. In August 2010, his appointment as Justice of the Peace was approved by Cabinet.

His community and civic involvements are numerous. They include Past President Dundas Town Burial Society, Past President Abaco Basketball Association, Past President Abaco Volleyball Association, Past President Abaco Softball Association, Past Director Bahamas Softball Association, Past Director of Programs Rotary Club of Abaco, Former Customs Officer, Past Chairman Dundas Town Local Government Committee, Past Chief Councilor Central Abaco District, Co-Chairman Central Abaco Disaster Committee, Past Chairman Central Abaco Hurricane Committee.  Pastor Mills is C.E.O. and owner of The Bahamas Christian Network, which broadcast special Christian programs including church services as well as local news throughout The Bahamas via Channel 55.

Pastor Mills is happily married to his wife Dolly. Their union produced two children, Teneil and Dario. He is the proud grandfather of four-year-old Dario, Jr. Pastor Mills gives all glory and honor to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for every aspect of his life. He has a passion for helping the needy and winning souls for Christ.
