As Immigration officials continue to crack down on foreign nationals overstaying their welcome in The Bahamas, charges were brought against three Jamaicans this week.
Damion Morris was charged yesterday in a Freeport Magistrate’s Court with overstaying, fined $1,000 and ordered to be deported.
Morris, who arrived in The Bahamas in January of 2009, was allowed to stay until July 2009, but never left.
He was arrested at Lucayan Towers on Wednesday and pleaded guilty before Magistrate Debbye Ferguson in Court 1.
On Tuesday, Durlene Ferguson and Shernette Robinson appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Helen Jones in Court 3 on the same charge after it was found that they were still here.
The duo was arrested on Monday at an apartment on Ferry Horse Lane.
Ferguson was discovered with her three minor Jamaican children who also overstayed.
The two were fined $1,500 which was paid and they were escorted to the Detention Centre in New Providence.
