At approximately 8:15 a.m. Thursday morning, an incident occurred within the exercise yard of the Maximum Security Unit of Her Majesty’s Prisons that resulted in one inmate suffering undetermined head injuries after being struck with a drain cover by another inmate.
The assaultive inmate was immediately restrained by officers and returned to his cell. The assaulted inmate was seen by the Prison Medical Team and as a precaution, taken by ambulance to the Princess Margaret Hospital. While the injury is not deemed to be life threatening, the matter has been turned over to the Police for further investigation.
