Daronique Young Takes Best in Swimsuit Award

It couldn’t have been any closer… with an array of amazing bodies before them, the judges had the tough task of choosing just one. When it was all said and done, Darronique Young narrowly edged out Anastagia Pierre to capture the 2011 Miss Bahamas Best in Swimsuit award, advancing to the semifinals in the process. The exciting event was held at the Abaco Beach Resort in Marsh Harbour, Abaco.

The original plan was to stage the event on the resort’s breathtaking beach, however “Mother Nature” had other plans. Inclement weather forced the organizers to quickly move the event indoors. One by one, the contestants paraded before the panel of judges which included Anishka Lockhart, Mystical Gym and Nutrition Center co-owner Avis Bullard; and pageant aficianado Chivialle Gibson. The judges were then given a second look, as the contestants were individually presented once more.

Finally, all of the contestants were brought before the judging panel for a final look. It must have seemed like an eternity for the contestants as the judges meticulously scrutinized each physique standing before them before submitting their scores to the team from Grant Thornton Bahamas, the official accountants of the Miss Bahamas pageant.

Then came the moment that everyone was waiting for – the annoucement of the results:

In 4th place with 27.8 points was Tempestt Stubbs.
In 3rd place with 29.1 points was Brooke Sherman.
In 2nd place with 29.5 points was Anastagia Pierre.
In 1st place, with 29.6 points was Daronique Young.

Congratulations to Daronique Young on becoming the 2nd “fast track” semifinalist in the 2011 Miss Bahamas competition. For photos, visit www.2010.missbahamas.net/blog/
