Judge Releases Death Threat Man on Bail

The Nassau Guardian reports that a judge yesterday gave a man accused of death threats bail on his own recognizance.

Devon Adderley, 25, of Rockcrusher Road, was accused of threatening to kill Lashan Smith on February 10, just three days before he allegedly attacked her with a knife.

Police dealt with the attempted murder case first, however. Adderley was released for that case and ordered to wear an ankle bracelet. As a condition on of bail it was also ordered that he have no contact with Smith.

Adderley did not breach those conditions, but he was remanded into custody on arraignment for the death threat case on April 19.

Adderley’s lawyer, Calvin Seymour said Adderley should not be denied bail on the threat case because it preceded the attempted murder charge.

Seymour also pointed out that Adderley was being monitored electronically.

Senior Justice Jon Isaacs released Adderley his own recognizance and reminded him that his attempted murder trial begins in the Supreme Court on November 7.
