Rare Ruling: Murderer Actually Punished

A 35-year-old man convicted in the Supreme Court of killing a prison guard in 2009 was yesterday sentenced to 21 years in prison. Durad Munroe was tried for the murder of Clifford Godet Jr, 27, after a dispute at Egan’s Place on Gladstone Road.

According to the evidence, Godet fired a shotgun into the air several times after the fracas.

Munroe, who was not part of the initial dispute, then retrieved a friend’s licensed shotgun and shot Godet in the head, the court heard.
