For The Love Of Art

Grand Bahama Artists Association

It is not just because February is the month of LOVE, the members of the Grand Bahama Artists Association have been exhibiting their love of art to the community at large since 1997.

The GBAA membership is are a wonderful mixture of professional and emerging artists, art teachers and  art lovers who come from near and far to be a part of this eclectic association.

It is often said that being an artist is a lonely profession but not so with the GBAA.  Making their presence felt on the island with member’s art exhibitions and community and business art presentations, the GBAA’s vision has always been about the love of art.

These lovers of art have been creating, exhibiting, educating, selling and delighting their audiences with artworks in oil, watercolor, pastel and acrylic, wood sculpture, woven and sequin tapistries and handmade paper  at every possible venue.

However on Thursday February 9, 2012 the GBAA members will once again host their own annual  Valentine Art Exhibition at the Bahamas National Trust’s Glory Banks Gallery in the Rand Nature Centre on East Settler’s Way, Grand Bahama Island.

Many of the original founding member artists will be exhibiting their work but the excitement is for the many new emerging artists and for artists new to the island to have the opportunity to exhibit their artwork for the first time.

With the growing awareness of the importance of art culture in our society, residents, visitors, art teacher and parents are urge to come and experience the many forms of art being offered here on Grand Bahama.   Many of the artists will be in attendance to proudly talk about their work.  For budding artists there is the opportunity to meet and maybe even book lessons with one of the art teachers on the island.

This increased awareness of the importance of art culture is evident in the many invitations extended to the members of the GBAA to be part of many business and community events.  This is good news for artists and patrons alike.  It is all for the LOVE OF ART.
