Another Crooked Police Officer Faces Charges

A policeman and five civilians were arrested on May 1 after Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers allegedly found drugs, a loaded gun and tools for making counterfeit money.

Constable Kensell Burrows, 32, of Garden View Road, who has been relieved from his duties on the force, made an initial appearance before Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt yesterday.

Burrows, who worked in the Internal Security Division, appeared along with Kenrick “Fire” Smith, Kevin Doreus, Dion Campbell, Neil Ferguson and Ken Mackey on the drug possession charge.

Police arrested the men when they executed a search warrant on a room at the Blue Water Resort on Cable Beach.

All of the defendants, with the exception of Ferguson, denied the charge. According to Ferguson, a friend gave him the drugs to celebrate the birth of his twins on April 29.
