COB Rotaract Introduces New Board Members

The Rotaract Club at the College of The Bahamas recently paid a courtesy call on the President of the College of The Bahamas to introduce its new board members, the projects completed and its plans for 2012-13 in the community, on the campus and abroad.

The Rotaract Club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of West Nassau.  Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18-30.  Rotaract clubs are either community or university based, and they’re sponsored by a local Rotary club.  This makes them true “partners in service” and key members of the family of Rotary.

As one of Rotary’s most significant and fastest-growing service programs, with more than 8,400 clubs in about 170 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon.

How does it work?
All Rotaract efforts begin at the local, grassroots level, with members addressing their communities’ physical and social needs while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service.

What are some other opportunities available to Rotaractors?
Rotaractors may also:

  • Work together with Interact clubs or mentor Interactors
  • Participate in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
  • Become Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholars or Group Study Exchange team members
  • Seek membership in their local Rotary club after their Rotaract membership ends.

The Rotaract Club completed the following projects:

  1. Donation to the AIDS Foundation – Souseout ($1,000.00)
  2. Donated food items to the Nazareth Centre Children’s Home
  3. Donated books to a Children’s home (to Rotaract Club of St. Andrews) in Kingston, Jamaica
  4. Tutored the boys at Simpson Penn Centre for boys
  5. COB club of the year 2011-12
  6. Bronze Award recepient for Rotary district 7020
