Seymour Promoted To Assistant Commissioner

Veteran police officer and former bodyguard to Prime Minister Perry Christie, Stephen Seymour, has been promoted to the post of assistant commissioner of police, the force announced yesterday.

Seymour is also the former director of security for the now-closed City Market supermarket chain.

The promotion took effect from July 1, 2012.

According to sources, Seymour is replacing Assistant Commissioner Glenn Miller who is on pre-retirement leave.

The promotion has reportedly upset other senior officers, who say Seymour was not eligible for the promotion as a regular police officer because he had already left the force and taken the job at the grocery chain.

Seymour returned as the head of the reservists shortly after the Progressive Liberal Party won the government in May.
