The Tru Tru Bahamian Festival will take place on the 7th of November 2015 at the historic 1789 Buena Vista Estate home to John Watling’s Distillery, located in Downtown Nassau, less than a mile walking distance from the cruise ship port. Free transportation to and from the hotels will be provided to hotel guests at participating hotels.
The Tru-Tru Festival will be a celebration of Bahamian Culture, Heritage, Traditions, Artistic and Culinary Flair and indigenous Flora and Fauna.
Throughout the day, the Festival will showcase our wondrous family islands and that which makes each island individually unique; our Bahamian traditions, handicrafts, food and drink; our beautiful natural environment and our celebrations of song and dance.
The Festival will provide a myriad of experiences for the whole family. The Kids Area will showcase creatures from land and sea, as well as plant life indigenous to our islands. Kids will be able to interact with Bahamian animals, play games and learn about Bahamian traditions long lost to the modern age of electronics. Games from yesteryear such as “Ring Play and Plait the Maypole” will take parents back in time.
For our adults, we will have Tru Tru Bahamian food and drinks, handicrafts and art exhibits, just in time for Christmas. In addition the Festival will feature Bahamian sounds and traditional musical celebrations such as The Royal Bahamas Police Band Performance, Gerald Cash Primary School Rake and Scrape Band, the College of the Bahamas Jams Session Band, Ira Storr and the Spank Bank; and as the Grand Finale, The C.R. Walker Senior High School Junkanoo Parade.
