In a telephone interview with The Freeport News yesterday Adderley not only confirmed that gas prices will decrease by a whopping 60 cents, but also verified that FOCOL is the majority supplier for service stations in Grand Bahama.
“Within a week, consumers will experience a drop in prices at the pumps,” Adderley reitered. “It will be dropped to $3.90.
So instead of paying $4.59, consumers can look forward to again paying under $4 per gallon.
This drop will take gas in Freeport to less than prices in New Providence, where consumers, almost three weeks ago, began paying $4.06 per gallon for regular.
This is great news for motorists, who since March this year have bickered about the high cost of gasoline prices locally.
“Whoopee!” exclaimed a male motorist. “I don’t know if I could last that long, but that is wonderful news.”
“I know the decrease had to be a lot,” he added, “and I am so happy about that.”
“So, hopefully by Monday?” he asked anxious for the huge price slash.
Last month oil closed at $63.76, on the New York Mercantile Exchange, its lowest level since March, thought stock watchers.
