New Residential Community For Cable Beach

After years of anticipation, ground is expected to be broken for a new residential community on the Cable Beach strip this evening.

Eves, as it is being called, will be an exclusive three-story, 10-unit gated community consisting of six condominiums and four lots on which to build one’s own home.

Government dignitaries and key players in the country’s financial services sector will be in attendance at the official ceremony to take place at the property of the late Lady Sassoon, just west of Guanahani Village.

The developer, R.E. Barnes, is the Lady Sassoon’s nephew and Chairman of the Sir Victor Sassoon Heart Fund.

Melinda Rockwell, International Sales Agent for Eves told The Guardian Tuesday that Caribbean Construction and Management Services was awarded the contract for the development, which is expected to be completed in 13 months.

“It is much anticipated because Mr Barnes started the project a couple of years ago. But when the market went down after 9/11 he had to stop it,” she said.

“Now he has reconfigured the project and everything is set to go.”

Mr Barnes is scheduled to address the event’s attendees of 200 to 300.

Eves condos are expected to be spacious and prices will range from $995,000 to $1,395,000.

“All are oceanfront condos and the value of the property, in light of the coming Baha Mar project, will be tremendous. So now is excellent timing,” said Ms Rockwell.
