Bozine Town residents may have to face the land developers staking claim to their homes at the end of February, it was revealed yesterday.
As the residents of the area face the end of their final extension they are distressed that Attorney General Alfred Sears has yet to make a decision on the controversial issue.
They were granted a month’s extension in their land dispute case with the Harrold Road Land Development Company in November of last year and a second one in December which expired in January.
The struggle began when residents in October 2004, received letters from the Lockhart and Munroe law firm saying that its client the Harrold Road Land Development Company (LANDCO) had been granted certificates of title to property between Bozine Town and Harrold Road. The firm said it was instructed that occupants of the land to whom the letters were sent were presently occupying a part or protion of their clients land.
The occupants were given 14 days from the date of the letter – October 13, 2004 – to purchase the portion of land that they occupied.
At a meeting held on Tuesday, the residents called on the Attorney General and Prime Minister Perry Christie to intervene on behalf of the Bozine Town/ Knowles Drive Community who insist that they purchased their propoerties in good faith.
