A weekend of crime, traffic fatalities and other accidents claimed the lives of at least 4 Bahamians this Easter weekend.
An unidentified blind man and a 22-year-old were killed in separate traffic accidents this weekend, bringing to 13 the number of traffic fatalities so far this year.
Alriquez Butler died after his car flipped over on Adelaide Road around 3:00pm yesterday. He was thrown from this jeep and landed in the road.
The unidentified blind man was walking along Collins Avenue when he was hit by a car on Saturday afternoon. It is believed to be YET another hit and run accident, this time involving a Ford Mustang.
Armed Robberies
The four armed robberies all took place between Thursday afternoon and Friday night. One of them was at the Nassau Motor Company as reported by Bahamas B2B in an exclusive report last Thursday. Another occurred at Travelers Rest, a restaurant on West Bay Street that is heavily frequented by tourists.
Accidents
Celena Macintosh, 3, died in a freak accident when a television set fell on her. And three-year-old Shonique Knowles died Friday and her one-year-old brother was seriously injured in a boating accident. All three children lived in Lowe Sound which has a population of about 500.
Local police are investigating the incidents.
Stabbings
The Bahamas Government, the Police and even the local papers are desparate to hide information about the violence that occurred this weekend at a popular tourist hotel for Spring Breakers. They are suppressing news regarding a stabbing at the Nassau Beach Hotel on Bay Street in an effort to salvage the Bahamas’ dwindling tourism industry at any cost, even if it means covering up the news.
The Nassau Beach hotel, which is filled with Spring Break tourists, refused to comment on the matter and nothing was mentioned in any of the local newspapers. However, when a Bahamas B2B reporter arrived on the scene there were pools of blood in the hallway and commotion everywhere.
In other stabbing incidents: Leroy Brown was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital early Friday morning with stab wounds to his head and neck area. He was stabbed by another man near his home on St. Charles Vincent Street.
Berkley Taylor, 21, of Sunshine Park received multiple stab wounds to his upper body during an altercation with another man on Thursday. He was stabbed with an ice pick.
