Guana Cay residents will protest in Nassau next week as the conflict over the $400 million Passerine development intensifies.
About 30 to 40 members of the Save Guana Cay Reef (SGCR) group are expected to fly into the capital next Tuesday to demonstarte against the recently signed heads of agreemebt for the Passerine of Abaco project.
The development, to include a new marina for mega-yachts, a golf course and 74-room luxury villa-style hotel as well as 350 residential units, has residents concerned that the environment will be irreversibly damaged and the quality of life significantly diminished.
The lobby’s legal representative, Grand BAhama lawyer Fred Smith, told The Tribune yesterday that his clients have receievd permission to hold a public demonstration and that they will likely lead the protest in front of Cabinet.
Mr. Smith said the hope is to “make some noise” and let the public and government know of their displeasure and concerns.
