Police Imposters Invade Fox Hill Home

Police reported yesterday that around 2am an armed home invasion and shooting took place in the Fox Hill area.

Police said a 37-year-old resident of Davis Street was reportedly awakened during the wee hours of the morning to a loud banging on the door.

The resident, who was reportedly home with his fiance and other relatives, opened the door for the men who identified themselves as police officers, police said.

However, the men were said to be imposters and police suspect that their mission was robbery.

Inspector Evans reported that all three men were armed, one wielded a handgun, another a shotgun and the other offender a wrench.

During the home invasion police said that a large amount of money was stolen.

This subsequently resulted in a struggle between the resident and the armed culprit, according to police.

Two shots were reportedly fired during the struggle, and as a result one of the imposters was shot in the chest.

Police said the men fled the scene on foot, but were eventually caught and were in police custody.

Inspector Evans urged the public to request identification from persons who identify themselves as police.

“There is an identification badge that each officer who is in plain clothes, who is off-duty or who is performing a role as a detectiveナis in possession of,” Inspector Evans warned.

Giving the description of the police badge, Inspector Evans cautioned the public to look out for certain aspects to ensure that the badge is an authentic one.

“The badge has a crest and is either gold or brass or silver plated. It has the police force crest and it also states the rank of the individual. In addition, there is a photo aspect of the badge of the officer along with the signature from the commissioner of police and the police officer that the badge was assigned to,” he said.
