Acting Registrar General Shane Miller will be officially apopointed Registrar General now that a settlement has been reached by government with former registrar Elizabeth Thompson, a reliable source told The Tribune.
Mr. Miller was appointed Acting Registrar after Ms. Thompson was fired in January, although it was not until July 14 that she agreed to resign.
Ms. Thompson was fired from her post by the Judicial and Legal Services (JLSC) in January after serving just 11 months of her three-year contract.
It was later determined by Supreme Court Justice Hugh Small that Ms. Thompson had been wrongfully dismissed. His decision was later upheld when government applied for a stay of his ruling.
During the months leading up to her resignation, and based on the judge’s ruling, Ms. Thompson made several attempts to return to her post as registrar, each time meeting her office doors locked and Mr. Miller in her position.
