Judges are making their final selections for the Third Annual Bahamas Web Awards. There are 21 finalists which were chosen by the nominations committee from a field of over 50 website entries.
Three finalsists in each of seven categories will receive a custom engraved trophy at the Awards luncheon, to be held from Noon until 2:00pm, at the British Colonial Hilton Hotel in Nassau on December 8, 2005.
The People’s Chioce Voting, which occurred in September, saw all nominees competing in an online contest which is is determined by the public at large. There will be seven winners, one for each of the final Categories. The overall winner of the People’s Choice voting will receive a special trophy and other prizes.
The first People’s Choice Award, in 2003, went to the Bahamas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Last year’s top award in the People Choice voting was received by eleu.net, a website devoted to Eleuthera.
Also, the second Hall of Fame Award will be given to a person whose contribution to the Bahamian Internet community has been outstanding. Last year’s trophy, the first of it’s kind, was awarded to Mr. Brian Nutt for his pioneering activities in Bahamian web design.
Best of The Bahamas
The highlight of the Awards ceremony will be the presentation of the “Best of The Bahamas Award” to the overall winner of the 2005 contest.
The overall winner of the Third Annual Bahamas Web Awards receives an exquisite sculpture, created exclusively for this year’s contest, by reknowned Bahamian sculpture Antonius Roberts. 48 inches of gracefully carved Maderia wood rising up from a solid Coconut wood base, the sculpture is an outstanding representation of the excellence associated with the prestigious Bahamas Web Awards competition.
Prior recipients of the Best of The Bahamas Award have included HG Christie Real Estate and Tiamo Resort in Andros.
