Beauties teamed up Thursday evening to join the fight agaist Aids. Among them were: Mrs. Bernadette Christie, wife of Prime Minister Perry Christie; Miss Universe Natalie Glebova; Miss Bahamas Universe Denia Nixon and Miss Bahamas World Ordain Moss.
Moet & Chandon and its exclusive distributor in the Bahamas, Bristol Wines & Spirits sponsored the AIDS Foundation fundraising reception featuring the reigning Miss Universe. “An Evening of Champagne, Charity & Commitment” drew a sparkling crowd to the Cafe Restaurant, Royal Tower, Atlantis. Among the VIPS were Bahamian Olympic Track and Field Medalists Tim Munnings and Troy Mackintosh.

Moet & Chandon, through Bristol Wines & Spirits, supported the fund raising event by providing a Jeroboam (3 litres) of famous Don Perignon champagne, vintage 1995, as one of many “Silent Auction” items. Cacique Int. put in the winning bid for a rare bottle valued at $4,500.
In addition, Bristol Wines & Spirits donated Moet & Chandon champagnes for the enjoyment of all patrons attending the reception. Tickets were available from The Aids Foundation and Beauty in the Bahamas organizations. Mrs. Camille Barnett, head of the Aids Foundation, said the event was a sell out and well worth the weeks of effort.
Miss Glebova, born in Russia but now a Canadian citizen, has spent much of her time as Miss Universe campaigning to raise public awareness about HIV/AIDS and the research needed to find a cure. She has even taken a public AIDS test to empahsise that “Everyone needs to be tested.”
Miss Universe was brought to the Bahamas by “Beauty in the Bahamas,” hosted by Elle Deuce Communications out of New York. Elle Deuce planned to bring in more than 75 women for a wellness and fitness beauty get away.
Bristol Wines & Spirits and Moet & Chandon, along with Kerzner International recently held a product knowledge seminar for staff of both the Atlantis & Ocean Club properties. Mr. Pascal Bony, Moet & Chandon Marketing Manager- Caribbean, made an in-depth presentation. Kerzner Internationalᄡs Food & Beverage staff learned of the delicate production and design of champagne and of its region in France.
