Last Chance To ‘Name That Beer’

“We are delighted about the participation of the local Grand Bahamians, I knew it would be exciting οΎ– but the entrees we received so far are great!” said James Sands, president.

For many Grand Bahamians the normal office talk of reality shows, news and politics have been replaced by the Bahamas Beverage and Brewery competition talk. Hundreds have entered the chance to win $3,000 and are certain they have the winning name for the best beer in The Bahamas.

The competition began on September 1 gives Grand Bahama residents the chance to win $3,000, by coming up with a winning name for the new brewery’s beer.

Each resident is allowed three chances to enter the competition and will have the opportunity to win two sets of $3,000, as the brewery is looking for two names.

Residents can enter on the official brewery website at www.bahamianbrewery.com , or mail in their ideas or drop their application at the company’s marketing firm, Barefoot Marketing in Free-port. Residents must be over 18. “At the time of this press release over 900 entries have been emailed, dropped off and posted into the competition,” according to Sands. “There have been some fantastic names and some great ideas.

“When we pick the names we prefer, the winners of the competition will be notified and then we will announce the names to the media,” added Sands.

“The winners are going to have to be in the spotlight and have their ‘five minutes of fame.’

But the best part is, the winners will get to be part of our celebrations too and of course will see their beer come off the brewery line and into local restaurants and bars.”

Sands said locals should keep checking the web site at www.bahamianbrewery.com in the upcoming months for updates on the Brewery building and opening announcements. The company will also utilise all the email addresses they receive to keep people up-to-date with the brewery’s growth, and of course advise them about employment opportunities, special events and eventually sales.

“We’re moving along nicely,” Sands said. “The footings of the building are in and the brewery is coming along as projected.” Sands, a Nas-sauvian, also noted, “I am really enjoying my return to Grand Bahama.

“Everyone has been so welcoming to me and the response to this competition has been phenomenal.

“I want to thank everyone who has entered so far and those who need to enter, remind them they only have a week left, and of course wish everyone good luck.”
