Music Ministry

Under the theme, "Music- Food of Love," this fundraising event will be held at the Crown Ballroom of the Atlantis hotel on October 6.

This year 25 choir directors and organists who have served the church for 25 years or more will be honoured. Music is a very essential ministry in the Catholic tradition. Very often, it is easy to forget about the true value of these persons who have given so unselfishly of their time and talents to the enrichment of the worship experience at their churches. So often their contributions are ignored. The Archdiocesan Gala Committee saw the need to demonstrate the appreciation for the work done by these persons. Those who are being recognised represent a wealth of experience. Stalwarts like Mr. Eric Cash who has served as an organist for 71 years; Andrew Curry who still continues to be actively involved in the music ministry as both a choir conductor and organist after 65 years; Wenzel Lightbourne and Randolph Swaby for more than 60 years. The Committee says it was also encouraged by the service of the younger generation as they honour Kevin Davis, Barbara Percentie, Tyrone Miller and Keith Thompson.

The evening promises to be fun-filled and will feature the music of The Defence Force Pop Band, Anastasia Charlow; St Francis Junior Choir, with a special guest appearance of Elon Moxey, along with lots of prizes and surprises. All proceeds will aid the Cathedral Building Fund.
