Industrial Action Threats Loom At Our Lucaya

Industrial action is looming at the Our Lucaya Resort, say officials of The Bahamas Hotel Managerial Association (BHMA), a response to reports that management at that property is preparing to terminate some 50 managerial and supervisory employees.

BHMA president Obie Ferguson told The Freeport News that there is a “covert plan” being hatched to let go the workers, who all belong to the union.

According to Ferguson, management intended to begin the termination exercise this week.

The union president said, he wished to put management at that resort on notice that the union will not allow them to deny the workers their rights and are threatening a withdrawal of labour.
