Bahamas Trust Could Lead To Reopening of Money-Laundering Case

TRENTON — New Jersey investigators tracked down a trust possibly worth $6 million belonging to Robert E. Brennan in the Bahamas. The question now is, how do they get the money?

Brennan, 66, formerly of Brielle, is a well-known figure at the Shore. He was released from prison Jan. 7 after serving nine years for bankruptcy fraud and money laundering. The prison term capped a long-standing cat-and-mouse game with both state and federal regulators who accused him of defrauding investors — first with First Jersey Securities Inc., and then with Hibbard Brown & Co. Inc. and L.C. Wegard.
