Bastian Dumped By DNA

Former MP Whitney Bastian has been denied a nomination to run in the next general election by Bran McCartney’s newly formed Democratic National Party.

The DNA apparently feels that Mr Bastian’s “storied” past would be a liabilty to the party.

Bastian has been placed on the “restricted list” by the government of the United States and does not have a U.S. Visa.

Bastian, who was once charged but later aquitted on a drug offence back in 1987, never attempted to have himself removed from the stop list. He says his police record is clean and never needed a Visa.

The former MP is quite popular in South Andros where he intended to run.

Bastian says he is surprised by the DNA’s decision as he was asked to be part of the DNA team by party leader Bran McCartney. He reportedly said it “looks like someone else is running the party now.”

Undaunted, Mr Bastian intends to run as an Independent.

The newly formed DNA party is apparently having trouble finding enough people with integrity to run for office in the next election.

No wonder. There are not even enough decent politicians to fill the ranks of the PLP and the FNM, so it is not surprising that the DNA can’t find enough good men and women.
