Bahamian Designers ‘Dissed’ at Red Rose Ball

To the dismay of local fashion designers, a foreigner was chosen to features his fashion collection at this year’s Red Rose Ball.

The Organizers of The Annual Red Rose Ball in Grand Bahama Island have selected Kazz Forbes, a foreign fashion designer, to to feature his 2011 designs at this year’s event.

Forbes, the principal designer of Saint George Fashion House (SGFH), will show his Fall/Winter 2011 ‘Le Caicos Chic: A Romance with Decadence’ collection.

The Red Rose Ball is a charity fund-raiser with all proceeds benefiting the Grand Bahama AIDS Awareness Committee in Freeport, Grand Bahama.

The ball takes place on Saturday, November 5, 2011 in the Radisson’s Grand Ballroom at The Grand Lucayan.

Under the theme: ‘A Night at the Opera House, Australia’ – the black-tie charity affair will include a five-course meal, with  a fashion show featuring Mr Forbes collection.

Odette Knowles, Chairman of The Red Rose Ball said: “After seeing Kazz’s creativity and designs – I was so impressed, that when I was in dialogue  with members from the committee regarding adding him in with a showcase of All Black and Black & White to tie in with our theme ‘A night at the Opera House’ – they all agreed without hesitation. We are truly delighted to witness the development of a major talent in the making.”

It is not clear if Mr Forbes has been granted an immigration permit to work in The Bahamas.

So much for Bahamian designers.
