Bahamians Caught With Under-Sized Crawfish

Several fishermen are expected to be charged with possession of undersized crawfish after fisheries and defence force officials intercepted their vessels in waters off West End.

Assistant Fisheries Superintendent based in Abaco, Carroll Laing, said a routine patrol was being carried out by officers when they came upon a boat some three miles southeast of Memory Rock. The officers conducted a search of the vessel and discovered approximately 61 crawfish, 25 of which were undersized and two of which were egg bearing.

The men on-board were placed under arrest and as the officers were on their way to the Old Bahama Bay Resort in West End to deliver them to the police, they intercepted a second boat.
