Crime Set To Ruin The Bahamas

Anti-crime activist Rev CB Moss says The Bahamas is now “near the tipping point” as society rapidly erodes into chaos.

Rev CB Moss, executive director of the anti-crime group, Bahamas Against Crime (BAC), says the record high murder count has set a “shameful” milestone for The Bahamas.

For the fourth time in the last five years, The Bahamas has recorded more murders than the year before.

Meanwhile, other serious crimes, like armed robbery, rape, incest and assault are out-of-control.

Senator, Doctor Duane Sands, told reporters yesterday that the murder rate would be THREE TIMES HIGHER if not for the support of the critical health services at Princess Margaret Hospital.

With 151 stabbing and 146 shooting victims admitted to the hospital, the murder count would be much higher had the emergency services personnel not saved so many lives.

Rev Moss thinks that the crime spree is, “providing opportunistic and self-serving entities a great platform to assign blame, and to promote their selfish agendas.”

Hello PLP.

“The truth is that most, if not all of them failed to respond when they should have, thereby making a direct contribution to the present sad state.”

Had the government responded back in 2003, when the nation’s largest website, BahamasB2B.com, first sounded the alarm, the situation would be much different today.

Instead, the website was “blacklisted” by society’s elite, attacked by goverment-sanctioned criminals, while the founders were slandered, ostracized and assaulted for daring to speak in a manner that would reflect poorly on tourism.

Now, look at the mess we are in.

If people are looking for someone to blame for the out-of-control crime rate, one needs to look no further than those mentioned above.

And BahamasB2B wasn’t the only ones sounding the alarm.

Rev Moss noted that members of his anti-crime organisation have been trying since 2005, to alert the country to the impending crisis.

“Some of those doing the most talking today were among the least responsive. On April 19, 2010 Bahamas Against Crime organised a summit for private sector organisations, followed by another on June 16, 2010. It is very interesting to note how many of the nearly 100 invitees failed to attend. A visit to our website will reveal their identities, which should make interesting reading.

“Bahamas Against Crime is once again calling upon the nation to act now before it is too late. If we are not prepared to act, then stop the rhetoric,” Rev Moss said.

Amen!
