New Nassau Airport Terminal Sports Sustainable Design

Deep well cooling and a high albedo (highly reflective) roof are just a some of the sustainable features of the new $191 million US Departures Terminal at Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport in the Bahamas.

Stanis Smith, senior vice president and aviation sector lead for architects Stantec, notes: “Its highly sustainable design brings Nassau Airport up to international 21st century standards and captures a uniquely Bahamian sense of place.

“The design celebrates the Bahamas through natural materials such as limestone, commissioned Bahamian artwork, and natural light, as well as extensive use of gardens and patios so that passengers can enjoy the Island’s unique tropical climate and flora as they experience the terminal.”
