DPM Urges Bahamians To Stand Against Soaring Crime

The public has to send a message to criminals that we have “had enough” and will not stand for further lawlessness in our streets, Deputy Prime Minister Brent Symonette said yesterday.

His comments came during parliament’s debate on a package of 10 bills meant to stem crime through an overhaul of the penal code, increased sentences for serious crimes and placing tighter restrictions on when judges can grant bail.

Mr Symonette said as citizens we need to take responsibility for what is going on in our country.
