Crime-Ridden Bahamas Is No Paradise

record levels of crime in the Bahamas
The Bahamas is no "paradise"

The Bahamas’ proximity to the United States has brought a rise in violent drug and gun crime in recent years, reaching its peak with the rape and murder of 11-year-old Marco Archer.

Award-winning reporter Nick Lazaredes meets a community in horror over the scores of deaths, and increasingly calling for the death penalty to be enforced for the perpetrators.

But even bringing people to justice is proving difficult, as the legal system is completely dysfunctional, the government and police force are awash with corruption and witnesses face being intimidated or murdered.

Can this tiny island nation tackle its increasingly violent crime wave?
