Bahamas Humane Society Quiz Night, Plus…

ready for adoption, please

We continue to be busy with surrendered animals, rescued animals, adoptions, clinics, and more. Our thanks to Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch for sponsoring the BHumane Banner Campaign and to those who individually purchased banners.

If you had paid for a banner, we should be receiving these back at the Shelter shortly and will contact you about picking yours up. Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 17th is Quiz Night!

Come along to the Green Parrot, Nassau side, at 7 p.m. and test your trivia knowledge while supporting the BHS.

Entry fee is $10.00, and teams can be from 2 – 8 people. (Don’t worry if you’re coming alone. You can be added to a team once you get there.).

Thank you to Lissa McCombe and the trivia crew for organizing these fun-filled evenings. Thursday, April 19th at 6 p.m. is the next Operation Potcake meeting.

If you’re interested in volunteering for this campaign, please come along and fill out a volunteer application.

We are still looking for people to work in the mobile clinics as well as to volunteer in other areas such as the census, trapping, housing and more.

Information on the volunteer positions is attached, along with the application form.

If you are emailing for further information (or returning your application by email), please contact potcake2013@gmail.com.

The Baark walk this past Sunday was a great success!

After two weeks of not being able to go out, the dogs were extremely happy to walk along and have a good sniff of everything.

All the dogs were able to go out this week thanks to the large number of volunteers who came and the many of those who took out a second dog.

The dogs thank you all very much!

If you have time on Sundays at 3:30 p.m., please feel free to join. Did you know? Kennel cough, the common name given to infectious canine tracheobronchitis, is a very highly contagious respiratory disease among dogs.

Symptoms to look for include a dry hacking cough, retching, and/or watery nasal discharge.

If you notice such symptoms, please be sure to consult your veterinarian right away.

If you bring your dog to the BHS with these symptoms, you may be asked to wait outside while you wait for the vet so as to not spread the disease to other dogs. Have a great week.
