Marijuana Operation Uncovered In Grand Bahama

Police in Grand Bahama uncovered a massive marijuana cultivation site containing thousands of plants with an estimated $40 million street value in the east over the weekend, believably the largest in at least a decade.

Police also found an of assortment of ammunition and say they are following several leads into the high-scale operation.

The fields were detected early Friday afternoon during routine patrol in East Grand Bahama and had plots averaging in size of 50 x 50 and 30 x 30 with plants ranging in height from one to 11 feet.

The 30 plots were in the pine forest on the northern side of Grand Bahama Highway, a few miles east of the High Rock Community.

One of the fields was about 110 feet by 40 feet and had as much as 10,000 plants.

The Drug Enforcement Unit is continuing investigations into this latest find, however, up to press time there had been no arrests.
