NEMA Commences Disaster Preparedness Week

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, kicked off its National Disaster Preparedness Week worshipping at Ebenezer Methodist Church on Sunday, June 3, 2012.

Purpose of the week is to educate and prepare the country to respond to any disaster, natural or man-made.

The week June 3-9 is being held under the theme: “Building Resilient Communities Through Mitigation and Preparedness”.

As part of the week’s activities, NEMA will conduct a walk-about in the communities educating the public about the importance of preparation, appear on radio talk shows, conduct seminars, and mount an exhibition Friday and Saturday in Rawson Square.
