Bahamas Children’s Choir Scores In China

BEIJING, CHINA — The Bahamas National Children’s Choir scored a bronze level, at the 11th China International Chorus Festival and International Federation of Choral Music World Choral Summit, in Beijing, China, on July 21, 2012.

This is the first time the choir took part in the Festival and it was the only choir from the Caribbean region and the only choir of colour out of the 166 choirs and nearly 10,000 in attendance. The Bahamas National Children’s Choir also beat out 67 of the 70 choirs in its division to attain this award.

The 40-plus member group of singers, directors, parents and chaperones is slated to be back in The Bahamas on Monday, July 22, 2012, on the last Bahamasair evening flight.
