Queen’s College Foundation Awards Scholars

The Queen’s College Foundation wishes to congratulate both the former Queen’s College Foundation Scholar recipient, Osano Neely, and the 2012/2013 Foundation Scholar, Vonria Johnson.

The Queen’s College Foundation Scholarship was established by the Queen’s College Foundation to award merit and need based students entering Queen’s College High School. The Queen’s College Foundation Scholarship was established by members of the Queen’s College Foundation in appreciation of the high quality of education they received from Queen’s College. The award recognizes students who demonstrate motivation in their pursuit of education.

Osano Neely was the inaugural Queen’s College Foundation Scholar. He received the award in 2006, at which time he entered the 7th grade. During his time at Queen’s College Osano participated in numerous extracurricular activities, most notably sharing his talent for singing at various Q.C. functions and representing Queen’s College annually at the E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival. Osano graduated from Queen’s College High School on June 15th, 2012. He received a certificate of merit in English Literature. He also received The Diggiss Family Award, The Fred Ferguson Music Award of Excellence, and The Q.C. Players Award. Osano expressed his gratitude to the Queen’s College Foundation for the opportunity to become “a member of the Queen’s College Family”. He continued, “I leave Queen’s College with the experience and skills that I know I can build on to become a positive contributing citizen of this great country”. Osano Neely is currently attending the College of The Bahamas where he is pursuing a B.Sc. in Finance.

Vonria Johnson is the 2012/2013 Queen’s College Foundation Scholar. She is an avid reader and musician, who has successfully completed Grades One, Two and Three Royal School Arts of Music Theory Examination and Piano Practical. At Queen’s College Primary School Vonria was involved in numerous extra curricula activities including The French Club, School Choir, and Girls Guides. She regularly attends Grant’s Town Wesley Methodist Church, Baillou Road; where she is part of the church band, Wesley Jubilee Bell Ringers, and the children’s choir. Vonria completed Grade 6 at Queen’s College this summer, graduating with a 4.00 term grade point average.
