Young Chef Competition Receives Recognition

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, recently held a ceremony highlighting the achievement of Bahamian students in the Inspire programme (Investing in students and the programme for the Innovative reform of Education).

One of the major contributors to the “Inspire” programme is the annual Champion Young Chef competition, now in it’s 21st year.

The Young Chef event is sponsored by Mahatma Rice and Robin Hood Flour, both distributed by Asa H. Pritchard Ltd.  The event was the brainchild of Keith and Sara Parker, founders of P.S. Advertising and Public Relations.  In it’s 21 years, the Young Chef event has provided over $100,000 in scholarships, airfares and supplies to over 2,500 participants, throughout the Bahamas.

Mr. Parker is pictured, centre, with Dr. Karen St. Cyr, Inspire, Project manager and Ms. Sharon Ferguson, Education officer responsible for Home Economics, who has been the principal organiser of the Young Chef contests for many years.
