One Bahamas Launches Unity Walk

The One Bahamas Foundation held a ceremony to launch the  One Bahamas, “We are One” Unity Walk at the Churchill Building near Rawson Square on Saturday, February 23, 2013. The walk is scheduled to  begin at Arawak Cay and finish at the roundabout at the Sheraton Hotel.

Mr. Algernon Allen, co-chair, Urban Renewal said One Bahamas, which began 20 years ago in 1992, is an initiative which was created to unite Bahamians of all colour, creed and political affiliation.

Co-chairmen of the One Bahamas Foundation Sir Orville Turnquest and Sir Durward Knowles, the Governor-General, Sir Arthur Foulkes, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Perry G. Christie, Minister of Youth Sports and Culture Daniel Johnson, Leader of the Official Opposition Hubert Minnis and Speaker of the House Dr. Kendal Major were among persons present.

According to event organisers, the walk aims to promote unity, peace and friendship across the country with the purpose of generating a greater sense of identity, pride and community among Bahamian youth.
