Armed Robberies A Rising Trend

Three hundred and twenty armed robberies have been reported this year compared to 314 for the same period last year, Minister of State for National Security Keith Bell confirmed.

The increase in armed robberies is cause for concern.

Twelve armed robberies occurred between Saturday, March 30 and Monday, April 1. Six of which happened when the victims were either entering or exiting their homes.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson said police have noticed a trend where groups of men followed people home in the early morning hours and robbed them.

Superintendent Paul Rolle told The Nassau Guardian on Sunday that most armed robberies do not result in murders, and he warned people to remain calm if they are being robbed.

However, the most recent murder was the result of an armed robbery, said Rolle.

Domingo Duncan, 37, was walking to his truck on Balliou Hill Road around 5:15 am on Saturday when three men robbed him, then shot and killed him.
