GBPA Vice President Is ‘Under 40’ Honouree

Mrs. Ginger Moxey, Vice President of The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited (GBPA) was one of 40 young Bahamians honoured during the recent ’40 Under Forty Awards’ ceremony.

Sponsored by Jones Communications Network (JCN), in collaboration with the Government of The Bahamas and corporate partners, the presentations were held as part of observances of the 40th anniversary of Bahamian independence and sought to recognize young people who are trail-blazers, or who are performing with distinction in many spheres of national life.

The driven group of recipients hailed from all spheres of society and have greatly contributed to the development of our country in vast fields such as business, banking, medicine, law, education, sports, journalism, design, tourism, law enforcement and others.

“There are scores of young Bahamians under the age of 40 who over the last 40 years of Independence have nurtured and developed their abilities to get beyond the ordinary.  They had a passion to fulfil their dreams and a mind to achieve greatness,” stated Wendall Jones, Chairman & CEO, JCN. Cognitive of their efforts and achievements, he added that, “The objective of this initiative is to assist in improving performance by individuals and increase competence in the professions. In addition, we wish to inspire young Bahamians to become world-class in their endeavours and to celebrate their excellence.”

On hand to accept her award during a special luncheon held at the Sheraton Cable Beach Hotel in Nassau, Moxey reflected on the privilege bestowed upon a home-grown Grand Bahamian, born and raised from humble beginnings in Eight Mile Rock.

“I am deeply humbled and honoured to have been chosen to receive such a prestigious award and national recognition not only on behalf of myself but also The Grand Bahama Port Authority and the citizens of this great island I call home,” she expressed.

A 6-year GBPA scholarship recipient, Moxey began as a summer student with the GBPA Group at the age of 12.  In 1999, she joined the Freeport Harbour Company Ltd, and later moved to GBPA occupying several supervisory and management positions: Marketing Officer; Manager of Public Relations, Marketing & Director of Business Development; Public Relations & Marketing; and Sr. Director of Corporate Relations & Administration.  She currently serves as Vice President of The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited and Port Group Limited with responsibility for corporate relations and administration, community relations, employee relations, public relations/marketing, business and government relations.

With business administration and marketing as her forte, Moxey is a Certified Professional Manager with the James Madison University; a Certified Event Manager with the George Washington University, and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA with the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.
