Speed Week Announces Patron & Healey Races

Bahamas Speed Week is delighted that five times Le Mans winner has agreed to be their 2013 Patron.  British born Derek was extremely successful in sports car racing, not only winning The Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance Race five times but also the Daytona 24 Hour Race three times and the World Sportscar Championship twice.  He also raced in Formula One for Ferrari, McLaren, Surtees and Tecno and has been described by fellow racer Hans-Joachim Stuck as one of the most liked drivers of his generation.

A staunch supporter since the Revival’s inception, this will be Derek’s third visit to Speed Week his first in the capacity of Patron.  The always approachable, forever smiling Derek will undoubtedly be as much of a hit with our Entrants as they and their cars are with him. “The past two years have seen an amazing variety of cars entered for Speed Week, some of them quite astonishing” says Derek.

“But no matter what cars they bring, the Entrants all have one thing in common – they are all ‘hell bent’ on enjoying themselves and their cars.  And what a place to do it!  There are some fabulous cars and some familiar names on this year’s entry list – I can’t wait!”

Derek set unofficial Fastest Time of the Day in the Fort Charlotte Hillclimb last year in Peter Vlasov’s gorgeous Ferrari 550 Maranello and looks forward to competing and giving guest drives once again this December.

Healey Racing Added To Races For  Formula Juniors & Minis

For the first time in nearly 50 years, racing will re-turn to Nassau with two races each for Formula Juniors, Classic/Vintage Minis and, after serious interest at this year’s Silverstone Classic (the lar-gest Historic Motor Racing Festival in the World), the organisers have responded to demand by add-ing two races for Austin Healeys to the programme

All racers will enjoy the same experiences and hos-pitality as those participating in the core event but with the added bonus of being able to race on the most unique circuit in the world and, being the first to race at the Revival, go into the record books

Bahamas Speed Week Revival Main Event will run from 4th to 8th December; extended Event:  1st to 8th December, 2013
