Focus Encouraged On Museums In Education

Ms. Catherine Cole, the Secretary General for the Commonwealth Association of Museums (CAM) and Mrs. Kim Outten-Stubbs the Chief Curator at the Antiquities, Monuments and Museums Corporation (AMMC) paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Education, Science and Technology Jerome Fitzgerald. Discussions were held concerning the three educational roles of museums in education.

These roles are to have curriculum-based education for students throughout the school system in The Bahamas, informal education for adults and families, and professional development opportunities for people working in museums.

Mrs. Outten-Stubbs also stressed the importance of having the roles of museums highlighted during the upcoming Caribbean Conference for Education Ministers to be held in The Bahamas in June 2015.
