Financial challenges have been the root of recent power generation issues, BEC executives claimed yesterday.
In a press conference yesterday, BEC general manager Kevin Basden said generator failures are a result of the corporation’s financial position.
Apologising to the public for the prolonged and frequent outages, Mr Basden said during May and June, 2011, BEC experienced an “unusual and unforeseen” number of generator failures which, coupled with planned overhauls to other generators, left the corporation with inadequate electricity to meet the demands of its customers.
