GBPA Appoints New Senior Counsel

Freeport, Bahamas – The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited (GBPA) is pleased to announce the promotion of Karla McIntosh to the position of Senior Legal Counsel, effective May 1, 2013.

Miss McIntosh joined GBPA in September 2010 as Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer, and has since successfully completed the International Compliance Association (ICA) Diploma programme in anti-money laundering and compliance – with merit, National workshop on the implementation of mandatory IMO instruments – voluntary IMO member state audit scheme, and Ministry of Financial Services and The Bahamas Association of Compliance Officers seminar (complying with FATCA).

Her strong transactional, general business and commercial law experience is an asset to the Group of Companies,” stated Ian Rolle, GBPA President.

A graduate of St. Paul’s Methodist College on Grand Bahama, Miss McIntosh received her Bachelor of Law degree from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Barbados.  She also attended the Eugene Dupuch Law School in Nassau, Bahamas, where she obtained her Certificate of Legal Education and graduated as class valedictorian.  She was called to the Bahamas Bar on October 29, 2004.

Miss McIntosh is a member of the Bahamas Bar Association, Bahamas Association Compliance Officers (BACO), International Compliance Association (ICA) and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).

Prior to joining GBPA, she served as an Associate and Office Manager of Davis & Co. Freeport office where she obtained a wide range of experience in civil litigation, conveyance, commercial, probate and family matters.

Miss McIntosh is the proud mother of two sons, Anthony Baptiste and Demetrius McIntosh.
