One Straw Vendor Returns Home

Straw vendor Tracy Davis arrived at the Lynden Pindling International Airport with her husband and four-month-old baby from New York shortly around 4pm yesterday. Neither spoke to reporters yesterday following their arrival, but walked hurriedly to a jeep where a relative was waiting to drive them away.

The Tribune newspaper reports that Mrs Davis was sentenced on Thursday in New York southern district court, after pleading guilty to the charge of counterfeit goods trafficking on October 5.   Mrs Davis had been released on her own recognizance prior to her sentencing hearing.  New York Judge Richard Sullivan sentenced Mrs Davis to time served – 17 days — on the condition that she left the US within 24 hours.

The other vendors have not had their day in court yet.
