Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society Brings The Comedy Back

Freeport, The Bahamas – It’s back! The Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society is pleased to announce their third annual Comedy Show which will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 11th and 12th at the Grand Bahama Yacht Club at 8pm.

“We are thrilled that our comedy show has become an annual event. Year, after year, it grows in popularity. Last year’s 2 shows sold out completely, so don’t wait to get your tickets at the door! These 3 headliners are sure to make you laugh and you have 2 chances to catch them. Come out and enjoy a night of laughter and support our local performing arts students at the same time”, said the society’s founder and president, Dalia Feldman.

Returning this year is Kyle Grooms who was well received and part of the first NYC Comedy Club. Grooms is best known for his impersonations of president Barack Obama and for his guest appearances on VH-1, NBC’s Last Comic Standing and Chappelle’s Show, and appearances in T-Mobile, Sears, Career Builders and Holiday Inn Express national TV ad campaigns.

Along with Grooms will be actress, comedian, and writer, Gina Brillon, and funny guy, Big Daddy Tazz.

Gina Brillon of New York has been featured at Carolines Comedy Club, Laugh Factory in NY and LA, Gotham Comedy club in NY. She has also been seen in a number of independent film productions such as “The Mime” series, “Consequences”, “Went to Coney Island”, and the “Cyclist”.

Canadian, Big Daddy Tazz is often described as “one of the most talented comics in the business.”  Tazz has been delighting crowds at fundraisers, corporate events, festivals and on television for more than a decade and a half. Known as the “Bi-Polar Buddha”, Tazz is equal parts comedian and motivational speaker who likes to enlighten, educate and inspire.

Organizing the line-up for the 2011 NYC Comedy Club is comedian Ricardo Aleman who will also be back, but this time in the capacity as MC alongside local talent, Trevor Russell.  Aleman is the brother of Dalia Feldman, Founder of the Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society.

“I am so excited to be bringing these three great comedians to Grand Bahama, as I’ve  known them all for over 10 years. I met Tazz doing comedy festivals in Canada, and we’ve been great friends ever since.  He’s a lovable guy with hours and hours of jokes, and he loves charity work, especially if it comes with warm weather,” Aleman said with a smile.

“Kyle Grooms was such a hit the first year, we asked him to come back, and he’s thrilled about it.  I am also pleased that we will have our  first female participant this year. Gina and I both started in the business around the same time, and she’s always worked hard, kept moving up, and now she’s a pro,” said Aleman.

So mark your calendar now for a night of laughter you won’t soon forget! The event is to support the Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society which in turn supports the youth of Grand Bahama who are in the arts.

Tickets are $25 in Advance, $30 at the door and are available at The Seventeen Shop, Island Java, and Antoni’s Pizzeria.  Drinks and bar nibbles will be available for purchase during the show, or come early and enjoy dinner by the Grand Bahama Yacht Club Pool.  The Yacht Club is located off Midshipman Road before Cooper’s Gas Station heading east.
