Top Chefs Cook For Bahamian Royalty

In the first half of Top Chef’s season finale, “The Bahamas: Part 1,” an unprecedented five chefs arrived in the Bahamas. Although all five universally pleased the judges during the previous episode, they did not fare so well this time around.

Quickfire challenge: Go head-to-head with the winning chefs from their respective seasons.

These out-on-location episodes always have a little more jingle-jangle to the background music, which sets a festive tone. They arrived for their first quickfire in the Bahamas, where they see the Top Chef winner from their season.

Fit For A King

The elimination challenge was to cook for Bahamian royalty, who turned out to be the equivalent of Mardi Gras folk, with the King of Junkanoo. The chefs were excited and came up with some complex dishes.

However, the kitchen was quite basic, one of the fryers caught fire and the chefs had to flee, losing a huge chunk of time to cook. Firefighters doused the place with a fire extinguisher ruining the food.

The judges were universally unhappy with the food, although the chefs probably did the best they could under the poor circumstances, but the judges showed no mercy.

Mike was the universal winner and the judges told Carla to pack up her knives and leave the Bahamas.

Watch Top Chef on Bravo TV Wednesdays at 9pm – Three more episodes to go in the Bahamas.
