Tuberculosis Found In Grand Bahama Shipyard Worker

Public Health officials report that a Grand Bahama Shipyard employee who was initially diagnosed with tuberculosis and treated in 2008 has become reinfected due to failure to complete the medication.

After conducting TB screenings at the shipyard in 2008 when three expatriate workers were diagnosed with the disease the Ministry of Health set protocols and requirements to ensure workers are tested by local health professionals.

Dr Minnis emphasised that this is not a new case of tuberculosis and is only recurring because the individual did not complete his course of medication.
