Hurricane Season May Start Early

With an active 2011 Hurricane season predicted, meteorologists say that the season could begin with a storm in late May, days before the scheduled start of June 1.

In recent times experts have noticed that there has been no respect for the closing date of November 30, as was seen in previous years when Wilma hit in early December.

Therefore, they suggest people begin preparing for the season ahead.

In April of this year experts from the Colorado State University, Philip J. Klotzbach and William M. Gray, predicted that there would be 16 named storms this season, which begins June 1 and closes November 30.

Additionally, they noted that there would be 80 storm days, meaning days when storms will be active somewhere in the Atlantic.

They further predicted nine hurricanes with 35 hurricane days and five major hurricanes with 10 major hurricane days.
